SAFER COMMUNITY
In Findlay we have not been hit with the as many issues as the remainder of the United States. Findlay is a thriving community with lots of opportunity, and one of the best downtowns in the United States. A direct result of the legal system in Hancock County following through with its commitment to the community. Making certain that court cases get taken care of promptly. It is not the case with many other communities. Akron and Cleveland have an enormous amount of its citizens that have active warrants. This is a direct result of those commuities allowing the court system to perform as a business to make money as opposed to protecting the peoples interest.
We are very lucky in Findlay to have judges that are fair and follow their mission of conducting business promptly by closing cases in reasonably quick time. As a result, we in Findlay do not have thousands of warrants like a lot of neighboring communities.
Some courts, outside the area set an overwhelming amount of ten percent bonds that the defendants only pay ten percent and are NEVER liable for the full bond. In fact, they deceive the public by calling it a bond (amount) that is never at stake. In one county a defendent was charged with Felony 1 Rape and their judge set the bond at 50,000 ten percent. The defendent only had to post 5,000 to get out of jail, no questions asked. The safety in these communities is being put in jeopardy by allowing these individuals to be free on the street for ten percent of the amount they are advertising to the public. This is dangerous not to mention questionable practice that many courts are using.
As tax payers it is our right to live in a safe community. Lets count our blessings that in Hancock county we have a legal system and community that is efficient and exemplary in many ways.
